Comic-Con 2012: Prints & Peanuts

Posted by Alex | Filed in Artwork, Events, News

Comic-Con is this week, so I wanted to post a quick update about where I’ll be and what I’ll be offering during the show, and also give you a look at my bed spread.

First up, I’ve received a few requests from people asking if any of the One Sketch A Day sketches I’ve been posting would be available for purchase. They’re all drawn in a special sketchbook dedicated to this project, so I can’t sell them, but my brilliant wife suggested that maybe I should turn some of them into mini prints. I thought it was a pretty fun idea, so I went through the book and picked 20 of my favorites thus far, and I’ll have them available at my booth (#1802). Have a look…

It’s just as comfortable as it looks. As for the prints, each one is 5 x 7, printed on thick, fancy paper, and has the character’s name and number printed at the bottom (corresponding with the day it was drawn in my book). I wanted to present the sketches more or less as I drew them, without any digital trickery, so aside from the occasional color correction and some minor exceptions, they’re pretty faithful reproductions of my actual doodles, eraser bits and all. I think they look pretty cool. And at 2 for $5, you can totally get your collect on.

In addition to the 20 sketch cards, I’ll also have a signed and numbered Red Bandana version of the TMNT set ($20, limited to 25 sets, strictly for the OG’s), plus a variety of other prints available in various sizes, so come on and swing thru. Booth 1802, I’ll be there every day.

Also available exclusively at Comic-Con 2012 will be the San Diego Comic-Con Variant of Peanuts #1, featuring a brand new cover drawn by series artist Matt Whitlock, and colored by me. I’ve been going to Comic-Con every year since I was a kid, so to be able to walk through the aisles of this show and see a book I was a part of, from a legitimate comics publisher, is an awesome thing for me. I’m getting comped copies, but I’ll probably end up buying this, just because I can. If you want to do the same, visit the Boom! Studios booth and snag your copy.
